Services Offered: Homemaker / Companion
Clients with a high degree of independence who do not have a severe medical condition that requires active monitoring can benefit from homemaker services. Some examples of activities that are covered under our homemaker services:
- Companionship & safety supervision
- Family respite care
- Medication reminders
- Meal preparation
- Shopping & errands in client’s car
- Light housekeeping
- Alzheimer’s & dementia care
- Laundry & linens
- Hospice supportive care
- Incidental transportation in client’s car
- Writing letters
- Prompting & mental cueing
- Help with hobbies or crafts
- Reading books or periodicals
- Taking walks
- Guiding a client by the elbow
- Walking next to the client
- Steadying a walker with one hand and the other hand on the clients elbow
- (Companions NEVER lift, hold-up, or transfer clients)
- Setting up social functions and entertaining
- Friendly conversations
- Grocery shopping
- Assisting with meal planning/meal serving
- Light housekeeping
- Mopping/sweeping/vacuuming floors
- Washing and arranging dishes
- Cleaning kitchen counters and appliances
- Cleaning and organizing cupboards
- Taking out the garbage
- Cleaning the bathtub and shower area
- Cleaning the bathroom sinks and toilets
- Dusting, organizing, and tidying up rooms in the house
- Making the beds
- Changing the linens
- Washing, drying, and putting away the laundry
- Ironing clothes
- Running errands for you in employee car
- Providing transportation to appointments or social activities in client’s car
- Providing transportation to visit friends and neighbors in client’s car
- Pet care and pet monitoring, if appropriate
- Buttoning, unbuttoning
- Tying, zipping, unzipping
- Handing clothes
- Assistance with shoes and stockings (companions may not assist with TED Hose)
- Drawing the bath water
- Companions NEVER lift or transfer into or out of tub or shower
- Companions NEVER trim fingernails or toenails
- Bringing or purchasing the newspaper
- Bringing in the mail
- Playing games or cards
- Renting and watching movies
- Answering the door and telephone
- Dropping off and picking up clothes to be dry cleaned
- Going out to/for meals
- Assisting with mailing letters, bills, or packages
